An exciting opportunity to be part of this year’s Festival of Thrift is now open.
Cardboardia, part of this year’s exciting Festival of Thrift programme, are holding a free two-day creative workshops pre Festival. To get involved, register now and come along from 11am – 5pm on 26 and/or 27 June at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar TS10 5NW
Meet Tyran, the elected Minister of Education for Cardboardia, on their first Hi! Level visit to Redcar. And you can try to become a citizen of Cardboardia!
Cardboardia is a country without territory, but with its own economic, political and social system. Cardboardia is a country with more than 10 temporary towns that have materialised over the last 10 years – this year is our anniversary! We travel, organise national holidays and open Cardboardia Embassies around the world, including one in Hebden Bridge (UK) last year, which you can find photos of on our flickr account below.

About the workshops
The workshop will take place at Kirkleatham Museum in Redcar on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 June from 11am to 5pm both days and are suitable for anyone who loves making and are above the age of 16. At this two day summit meeting, you will not only create objects with cardboard with the help of experienced Minister of Education of Cardboardia, but communicate and think together with the elected ruler of Cardboardia, Tyran, about future collaboration.
We hope to find new inspiration and ideas with the support of local people, the results of which will reappear during the Festival of Thrift in September. We welcome artists, entrepreneurs, actors, directors, community workers, office workers, reality tv stars, mayors and for sure politicians… All people who love cardboard, wood, concrete and metal.
Please be aware: Attendance is FREE but you will need to cover your own travel and food costs. Places are limited so get in quick!
