Time: 10:00 - 17:00
Location: Kirkleatham Museum

Artist duo Simon Grennan and Christoper Sperandio have created a series of sculptures for Kirkleatham Museum in Redcar, combining items from the museum collection with objects made and manufactured by local companies.  The new sculptures,  which form part of the project Meeting Point, will be on show from 30 August until 29 September.  The works present artefacts including a 19th century taxidermy sea turtle and a civil war-era helmet, juxtaposed with elements produced by Redcar-based businesses.  Seven local businesses, from engineering firms to design companies have assisted in the creation of works including ‘Mr and Mrs Williams’, a pair of 19th century portraits, lit by tube lights and ‘At Thrush Road’, a 19th century riding saddle mounted on a buttoned and upholstered sphere.

“We want people to be surprised, entertained, and to take a different look at things they see around them.”
