Date: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th September
Time: 16:15 - Saturday & 15.30 Sunday
Location: Main stage at Kirkleatham Museum
Back on the stage, this time with outfits inspired by Kirleatham’s Museum, and a Day at Redcar Races! Our OxGlam team will be delving into Kirkleatham’s collection – a hidden treasure trove of costumes donated over the years by local residents – so expect to see something surprising, inspirational and – of course – transferable to your own wardrobe.
Looking a million dollars doesn’t have to cost you. It’s all about how you style it and how you let your individuality shine through. Vintage, second hand and up cycled clothes have long been the way that people stamp our their own style, it’s the way that creative folks develop their sense of individuality.
Michael and Jon from Oxfam Jesmond and Oxfam Durham Boutique and Bookshop working with Oxfam Darlington will show us how to be OxGlam. Using clothes and accessories donated to the shops they will pull together some extraordinary outfits which will leave you realising it’s not about the money. A bit of sewing power and creativity is all you need.
Look out too for the fashion design names of the future as students from University of Teesside’s BA Fashion Enterprise programme show items from their 2016 upcycled clothing collection inspired by the Festival of Thrift and join them in interactive sessions as they work on a live project using a digital embroidery machine.
On stage daily – Saturday 4.15pm & Sunday 3.30pm
