An amazing array of extraordinary artworks on the theme of clean air have gone on display across the Tees Valley region in the run-up to this year’s Festival of Thrift.

Returning for a second year, VIEWPOINTS by Festival of Thrift,  features art made with pollution, an immersive lung cleaning cube, dancers wearing pollution-sensing costumes, a pair of colossal canaries, an extraordinary Green House and a series of pavilions where people are encouraged to ‘Sit, Stare’, which are located across the Tees Valley from 12 – 19 September.

Aimed at prompting discussions about sustainability, with a focus on one of the 2019 Festival of Thrift’s key themes of clean air, the launch is just ahead of the seventh annual celebration of sustainable living, which takes place at Kirkleatham on the weekend of 14 and 15 September.

The artworks by Peter J. Evans, Dawn Felicia Knox (Transpire/Respire/Inspire, pictured at the top), Colin Davies (HALDANE, pictured right), Sally Hogarth (Sit, Stop, pictured above), Kasia Molga and Cabinet of Curiosity Studio (Green House, pictured top right) are situated at Palace Arts Gallery in Redcar, on Redcar seafront (in front of the Majuba Road Car Park), in Darlington market, at Middlesbrough railway station and on the side of TWI’s building* at Riverside Park in Middlesbrough.
