The chance to don feather boas and fishnets and enjoy an outdoor screening of Moulin Rouge is on offer at this year’s Festival of Thrift.

And for the first time those who really want to make the most of the night can camp overnight in the grounds of Kirkleatham Estate and enjoy two days of the Festival on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September.

This year Picnic Cinema will be bringing its big screen to the Festival for a showing of Moulin Rouge (12A) on Saturday 22nd September. Expect a night of feather boas, fishnets and romance at The Burlesque Ball.

Picnic Cinema has been taking picnickers and movie lovers to wonderful locations including castles, forests and National Trust properties over the years. The Festival of Thrift evening features a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s frenetic love story Moulin Rouge plus Balkan beats, Middle Eastern grooves and electro swing on the sound system.

Now in its sixth year and an award-winner, the hugely-popular Festival of Thrift returns to Kirkleatham on September 22-23, with an expanded programme running from 10am to 5pm. Featuring a wide mix of arts, crafts and independent businesses from across the region and the UK the imaginative festival is the UK’s national celebration of sustainable living.

When the daytime revellers have left, Picnic Cinema will continue the entertainment into the evening with its ticketed Burlesque Ball until 11pm.

Far more than an outdoor cinema, the full Picnic Cinema experience includes dressing up, camping over, and people letting their hair down. Fun and games before the film, music, dancing and many more surprises throughout the evening make up their famous ‘cinema parties’ which over the years have garnered a cult like following.

Tickets are on sale now from £15 non camping and £25 with camping at www.picniccinema.co.uk. U18 tickets also available.

The Festival of Thrift is a free daytime event on 22 & 23 of September. Picnic Cinema’s screening of MOULIN ROUGE (12A) is a separate ticketed event on the festival site after the free daytime event has closed on Saturday 22.
