The Wheel is a giant mobile, remote-controlled sculpture. Within a gleaming self-propelled hubless wheel, a miniature character walks inside on a seemingly endless journey towards an unknown destination. A separate mobile interactive gallery leads the way, with a screen showing a live transmission of the character in close-up. The Wheel evokes thoughts about our place in a fast-changing world. As the sculpture moves through the town almost imperceptible in its speed, audiences are invited to slow down, to look, contemplate, and imagine the possible narratives it inspires. Their own interpretation of the story of the lone character will be collected through drawings, stories and poems and displayed on the mobile gallery and online. The Wheel is an intriguing and intimate meditation on our sense of personal identity as we face the world.
