Thousands of people have attended this year’s Festival of Thrift. Festival-goers turned out in their droves for the 2018 event in spite of bad weather warnings and chillier temperatures for an action-packed weekend at the UK’s celebration of sustainability at Kirkleatham, near Redcar.

The award winning Festival of Thrift is back for its sixth year with a programme jam-packed with lots of things to see, do and get involved in.

With this year’s Festival of Thrift only days away, the organisers are inviting people to join in the event’s first ever launch parade to get the big Festival weekend started.

Redcar and Cleveland College and Stockton Riverside College have partnered with the Festival of Thrift to mark their recent merger.

Kindred is a family friendly arts festival held on 26 – 28th Oct in the lovely market town of Guisborough on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Over 80 volunteers, a ferris wheel, smoke machines, latex horses’ heads and even a unicorn head have been involved in staging a thrifty re-shoot of the famous Redcar beach shot from the film of Atonement.

The chance to don feather boas and fishnets and enjoy an outdoor screening of Moulin Rouge is on offer at this year’s Festival of Thrift.
